SALT LAKE CITY — Jacobsen Construction Company has been named 2023 General Contractor of the Year by the Utah CCIM Chapter, the state’s most prominent commercial real estate development association.
Jacobsen was announced as the winner from among three finalists at the CCIM Excellence Awards dinner May 6 at the Grand America Hotel. Criteria for the award included contributions to the construction industry, innovative work, community involvement, sustainability efforts and more.
“This award is cause for celebration,” said Jacobsen President and CEO Gary Ellis. “We do what we do to build up people and communities — for life. We’re grateful to be recognized for our contributions to making Utah a better place to live, play and work. I applaud each of our 700-plus employee-owners for doing work that makes a difference every day.”
Jacobsen also won Contractor of the Year from the Utah CCIM Chapter in 2022. The chapter, which holds its Excellence Awards dinner every Spring, is a prestigious education and networking organization for Utah professionals in the commercial real estate development industry and related fields.
Jacobsen’s Liberty Sky project was a top-three finalist for 2023 General Contractor Project of the Year from the Utah CCIM Chapter.
Liberty Sky, a 21-story residential tower in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, is notable for pioneering high-rise rental apartments in the city, being built on a highly constricted jobsite, its expansive use of architecturally exposed concrete throughout the structure and other unique features.
